A violent domestic dispute between a young couple in the Central West End escalated into an accidental shooting early yesterday morning, police reported. Two individuals, a 21-year-old woman and her 19-year-old boyfriend, were injured in the incident which occurred in the 4500 block of Nash Way.
The argument began around 12:45 a.m. over "personal matters," according to a statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. In a turn of events, as the woman pushed her partner, a gun in possession of the young man discharged unexpectedly. As reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, both individuals were hit by gunfire, with the woman sustaining a leg injury and the man a hand injury.
Following the incident, emergency services transported both the woman and the man to a local hospital for medical treatment. Details regarding their conditions have not been made publicly available, but the injuries are being treated.
Investigations into this incident are currently ongoing, led by detectives from District 5. No charges have been filed at this time, and the SLMPD has not released any further information regarding a potential charges or the nature of "personal matters" that sparked the altercation.
