It's been 37 years since Maurice Hill's life was cut tragically short, and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office is turning to the community once again in hopes of shedding new light on the cold case. Hill, who was 22 at the time of his death, was found shot on Old Altamont Pass Road near mile marker 1.9 on April 16, 1988.
According to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, witnesses reported seeing Hill in the back seat of a two-door brown Volvo in Oakland on the corner of 85th Avenue & D Street. The description of the individuals in the vehicle with him remains as vague today as it likely seemed then: a light-skinned black male adult in his mid-30s with "jheri curls," wearing a black hat and black leather coat was driving, and a heavyset black male adult, also in his mid-30s, rode as a passenger.
