
Milpitas Police took to social media to share the story of a quick-thinking community member's actions that led to the arrest of a juvenile suspect involved in auto burglaries at the Great Mall. The incident happened on Wednesday when the suspect, a 16-year-old from Hayward, was caught in the act of breaking into cars. The police lauded the civilian's sharp eye and prompt call, which allowed them to apprehend the suspect following a foot pursuit featuring several fence hurdles, according to Milpitas Police.

Despite the suspect's futile dash for freedom, officers managed to collar the youngster after what can only be imagined as a heart-pounding chase. The suspect ditched the stolen goods during his flight, and the responsible citizen not only pointed police in the right direction but also found and kept the stolen property safe until officers could recover it.
Hauled off to Juvenile Hall, the adolescent now faces two counts of burglary and one count of resisting arrest.
