Shane Jefferson, 36, was pulled over by Detective Tyler Bresse on Southbridge Street, where the officer initially spotted narcotics paraphernalia in clear view during his exchange with the driver.
The ensuing search of the white Jeep by Detective Bresse resulted in the uncovering of a Taurus 9mm semi-auto handgun, bullets, a small scale, two grams of cocaine, over $2,300 in cash, and perhaps the most unusual item of the haul—a baseball bat embedded with nails. It was not immediately clear what caused the officer to initiate the stop, but the result was a detailed inventory of potential evidence for the ensuing legal process. Jefferson was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a dangerous weapon, and possession of a Class B substance, as reported by the Auburn MA Police Department.
Following the arrest, Jefferson was held at the Auburn Police Department with bail set at $50,000 cash over the weekend. During his arraignment at Worcester District Court, he was held pending a dangerousness hearing to evaluate the threat he may pose to the community.
