The City of Avondale is gearing up to host its family-friendly KidFest on April 12, as part of the celebrations for the nationally recognized Week of the Young Child and Día de los Niños. This free event, presented by Avondale Toyota, is a platform for showcasing the myriad resources available to children and their families in the local community. Families can look forward to a slew of activities from vehicle displays to crafts stations, all aimed at celebrating early learning and child development.
Avondale Mayor Mike Pineda has proclaimed April 7 – 11, 2025, as the Week of the Young Child in Avondale, aligning with the 54th national commemoration. The KidFest event, endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and its Arizona chapter, AzAEYC, is set to take place at Friendship Park, located at 12325 W. McDowell Road. With its fun zone and STEAM stage, children can engage in educational play, while the "exhibitors' alley" will provide families with access to essential services and programs.
According to an announcement on the City's official website, transportation concerns for attendees are put at ease with free WeRIDE shuttle services running between the event and overflow parking lots at Canyon Breeze Elementary School and The BLVD Parking Garage. While the event itself is free of charge, an array of food trucks will be offering sustenance for a fee, ensuring that no one goes hungry during the fun-filled day.
Detailed information regarding this educational event, such as a map, schedule of entertainment, and activities list, can be found on the City's KidFest page. The Avondale Parks & Recreation Department, which is hosting the event, has marshaled sponsorship from community-oriented businesses, including Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and Prime Air, further emphasizing the shared responsibility in nurturing the development and education of the youngest members of society.
