Commuters and residents in Avondale should be aware of upcoming traffic changes along Van Buren Street. From March 31 through April 18, traffic restrictions will be in effect in both eastbound and westbound lanes between 119th Avenue and Avondale Boulevard. According to a City of Avondale announcement, the closures are due to the installation of a new waterline and sanitary sewer for the Flatz residential development.
The majority of the construction work is scheduled to occur during daylight hours, with some limited nighttime work planned for the week of April 14. Drivers traveling through the area should anticipate potential changes to their usual routes and are advised to follow all newly posted traffic control signs within the construction zones.
The Flatz development is part of a broader plan to upgrade the area with off-site improvements, including utility relocations, which are expected to continue through the summer. As construction advances, additional traffic restrictions may be implemented as needed.
