Heads up, Baton Rouge drivers: a construction closure is coming your way this weekend. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that starting Friday, April 11th through Sunday, April 13. there will be a series of right lane closures happening on I-10 Westbound and I-12 Westbound. For those planning to navigate these routes, you might want to consider an alternate path or prepare for some delays.
According to the DOTD announcement, the specific stretch affected on I-10 WB goes from Essen Lane to College Dr. Timing for the closures will be from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, allowing for some semblance of daytime travel normalcy. On I-12 WB, the closure begins from Essen Lane and extends to the I-10/I-12 merge. It's going to be a similar drill, with lanes shutting down from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM on April 11th and 12th, and from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM on April 13th.
But wait, there's more. In addition to these closures, motorists will face a more significant shutdown starting at 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM each day from April 11th to 13th. During these hours, the two right lanes will be closed, meaning even less asphalt to share amongst those braving the night roads. Weather permitting.
