The City of Antioch is dealing with the aftermath of a brazen act of vandalism against one of its beloved public art installations. The "Hey Daddy, Look!" sculpture, an endearing portrayal of a father and daughter, has fallen victim to theft and damage. According to the City of Antioch Government, the bronze statue of the little girl, which was part of the duo, was stolen on March 12, leading to the preemptive removal of the "dad" statue by city officials out of concern for further harm.
Initially restored at a significant cost of over $38,000 in 2022, the piece was situated on Lone Tree Way near James Donlon Blvd and represented a spark of innocence and connection amidst the cityscape. Following the unpleasant discovery of vandalism, the Antioch Police Department has opened a file on the case and is requesting help from the public to actively help them find those responsible.
