Bloomington's Fire Department announced Ron Crook as their choice for Firefighter of the Year. Crook, who began his tenure as a paid-on-call firefighter back in 2016 and later upgraded to a full-time position in 2022, has evidently made quite the impression in a relatively short amount of time.
Hailing from Bloomington himself, Crook is not just a firefighter but also a fire inspector, a role that involves him in fire operations, inspections, and community education efforts. His background in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration proves invaluable in his inspection duties.
Upon receiving the award, Crook expressed modesty, stating, "It’s a big achievement and I appreciate the recognition even if the spotlight’s a little bright," according to the Bloomington Fire Department's announcement.
