Parents and guardians in Maryville can ensure their children's car seats are properly installed as the Blount County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) announces a child safety seat clinic. The free event will take place at Friendsville Elementary School, located at 210 E. Fourth Avenue, Friendsville, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Certified technicians will be on hand to guide caregivers through the correct installation of child safety seats.

Statistics show that correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers in vehicles. To make this a reality for more families, the BCSO is actively reaching out to ensure caregivers have the resources to safeguard their children on the road properly.

According to the social media post from the Blount County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff James Lee Berrong highlighted the importance of this initiative. " This clinic is an opportunity to ensure the child safety seat fits your vehicle, your child, and are safely and securely anchored in the vehicle," he stated. Such initiatives are part of the BCSO's ongoing efforts to improve child safety throughout the region.
