In what's becoming a time-honored tradition, Boston police officers from District E-13 joined community members for a day of service to spruce up Egleston Square. The event marked the 10th anniversary of the “Love Your Block” initiative, a city effort aimed at community empowerment through neighborhood clean-up and beautification. Amid picking up litter and planting fresh flowers, police and residents alike worked together, aiming to visibly improve the space that binds them.
As reported by Boston Police Department's news blog, Captain Warren Hoppie actively took part in the clean-up. Officers were seen engaging with locals, in a move to not only clean but also to connect. “Love Your Block” is more than an aesthetic campaign; it's a testament to what can be accomplished when officials and citizens roll up their sleeves to together work on common ground.
