Chaos erupted at a Target parking lot in Superior when a theft investigation turned into a dangerous escape attempt, leaving a Boulder County deputy injured. According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at around 1:44 p.m. on April 21, when deputies responded to a theft report at the store located at 400 Marshall Drive.
Upon arrival, deputies found the suspect vehicle, described as a gold GMC Yukon without license plates. While collecting information, the situation quickly escalated as the driver decided to hastily flee the scene, inadvertently running over a deputy's foot. Despite the deputies' attempt to immediately stop the suspect, a chase ensued but had to be terminated near McCaslin Boulevard and US Highway 36 due to safety concerns.
The deputy who suffered the injury was later checked at a local hospital and is expected to recover fully from the incident. No other deputies sustained injuries during the ordeal. The Sheriff’s Office has now launched a manhunt for the three suspects, who were last seen heading westbound on US 36 in the GMC Yukon.
The officials have released descriptions of the suspects, urging the public to keep an eye out but also maintain a safe distance. The driver is reported to be a white female with blonde hair tied in a bun, the front passenger a white female with facial tattoos and dark hair, and the rear passenger a white male in his 60s with gray hair and a goatee. The authorities anticipate that the charges will include vehicular eluding, theft, and reckless driving.
