A would-be punctual procession to a bride's wedding was interrupted when Port St. Lucie police stopped a vehicle hitting speeds of 105 mph in a 45 mph zone this past Saturday.

As reported by WSVN, the officer initiated the stop to find a frantic bride, not behind the wheel, but in the passenger seat, with a wedding guest determined to deliver her to her wedding. "Whose wedding is it?" the officer asked, to which the bride responded, "It's mine." The nuptial urgency, however, did not deter the officer from enforcing the law, whereby he subsequently issued them a court date for the traffic violation.

The ceremony's start time was slated for 2:30 p.m. at a courthouse in Stuart, approximately 11 miles from the location of the stop, as observed in the officer's body camera video. WFLA notes the time of video showed 2:42 p.m., indicating the bridal party was indeed running late. Despite the setback, the compliant officer allowed the pair to continue their journey after the interaction, though not without consequences.

In a Facebook post that followed, the Port St. Lucie Police Department quipped, "Rain on your wedding day is good luck! Well on this sunny day, the bride’s driver now has a mandatory court date in front of a judge.” The department's sentiment shared a tone of irony for the sunny day mishap, possibly indicating this was not quite the "racing to the altar" the bride had envisioned for her big day.
