Attention Crawford County motorists—the first wave of bridge rehabilitation is upon us. Starting next week, crews will begin work on Route C, Route FF, and Beamer Lane overpasses, making for a series of detours drivers will want to mark on their calendars. All three projects, according to Missouri Department of Transportation, are part of a broader initiative to upgrade the I-44 corridor.
The construction kicks off on Route FF from April 28 through June 20. Subsequently, work on Route C is slated from June 23 to August 18, followed by Beamer Lane, which will undergo repairs from mid-August through September. These dates, however, are subject to the whims of weather and other potential schedule adjustments.
While MoDOT has promised that all efforts will be made to minimize traffic disruptions, they've also issued a reminder to the public. Motorists will need to find alternate routes during each project phase. The department is pleading with drivers to put safety first: buckle up, keep phones down, and heed all traffic signs, especially in work zones.
To stay updated on the latest traffic news and get more details about closures and detours, MoDOT directs commuters to their dedicated Forward 44 webpage. Additionally, they've emphasized the importance of exercising extra caution through these areas, asking motorists to slow down and move over when approaching & navigating through construction zones.
