Broward County Circuit Judge Stefanie Moon is facing discipline for her political contributions, in addition to a pending reprimand by the Florida Supreme Court for separate allegations. The state Judicial Qualifications Commission accused Moon of donating to political campaigns, including those of Democratic figures like Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, as well as to ActBlue, the Democratic Party's fundraising platform, as per the NBC Miami report.
Under an agreement with the Commission, Moon could face a public reprimand and a fine equal to her total political contributions, amounting to $2,115, according to the Sun Sentinel. The Commission believes this will deter similar future misconduct and remind judicial candidates of the need to maintain the integrity of judicial office and elections.
Earlier allegations against Moon involved unprofessional behavior, including reminding a counsel in open court about an unreturned phone call related to her reelection bid and contacting a therapist in a case involving mental health. In January, a reprimand was recommended by the Florida Supreme Court based on these incidents.
The Florida Supreme Court will make the final decision regarding Judge Moon’s discipline, with the Judicial Qualifications Commission providing the investigation and recommendation.
