Williams, a recognized figure in the business community, is primed to bring his three decades of experience in business and investment to the university's governing body. "Rainey Williams is a respected leader with a heart for service and a sharp eye for smart investments," Governor Stitt claimed, as he went on to detail Williams's extensive contributions to both the business sector and civic leadership. Governor Stitt believes Williams is equiped to help guide the University of Oklahoma into its next chapter. Notably, Williams's background includes being the president of Marco Holding Corporation and taking up leadership roles in health care and higher education institutions within Oklahoma, as reported by the Office of the Governor.
As president of Marco Holding Corporation, Williams has led investments in private equity, real estate, and various other assets for over a quarter of a century, expanding the company's presence across Oklahoma, Texas, and the Southwestern U.S. In parallel, Williams has dedicated time to teaching as an adjunct professor in the MBA program at the same university he will now help oversee, linking his professional expertise with his commitment to education.
Williams expressed his gratitude and honor to be able to serve in this capacity. "I’m honored by the opportunity to serve on the OU Board of Regents and support the university’s mission of academic excellence, innovation, and public impact," he said. His broad slate of experience includes chairperson positions at the University Hospitals Authority and Trust, OU Health, Inc., and serving on the boards of several other companies. In addition to his B.B.A. in Finance from Southern Methodist University, Williams earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, as per the Office of the Governor.
