The City of Carrollton invites fans of all things space and sci-fi to join the "May the 4th Be With You" celebration happening on Saturday, from 5-8 p.m., on the Historic Downtown Carrollton Square. A family-friendly affair, this free event promises to offer a range of activities that are sure to entertain whether you're a die-hard Star Wars enthusiast or just looking for a unique way to spend an evening.
As the evening unfolds, attendees can look forward to an array of interactive experiences, from wielding their lightsabers in pretend epic battles to immersing themselves in contemporary gaming. Specifically, the event will feature a mobile gaming trailer equipped with state-of-the-art consoles, including Sony PlayStation® PS4™ & PS5™, Microsoft Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, all ready to connect guests into virtual adventures on multiple LED TVs. Furthermore, plans are set to project the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) at sunset, weather permitting, as noted by the City of Carrollton's event page.
Festivities include hands-on laser tag, engaging crafts, a variety of photo ops, including a 360° photo booth, and a costume contest scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with categories such as Best Overall, Best Group, and Most Creative. "Members from the 501st Legion, a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans, will also be present at the event to pose with attendees," assures the announcement on the City of Carrollton's official website.
For those who need to take a moment away from the excitement, the event will provide a Sensory Friendly Break Area. This inclusion aims to offer a quieter space for individuals with autism or other special needs, complete with activities such as coloring and access to sensory items like noise-cancelling headphones and bean bag chairs. The Carrollton Public Library will also be present to showcase their Summer Reading Challenge, which runs from June 1 through August 1, inviting guests to engage in games for a prize, further details of which can be found on the library's booth.
