Calling all Carver County kayakers and canoeists: Lake Waconia and Lake Minnewashta Regional Park are rolling out new offerings this year for water enthusiasts looking for a hassle-free way to hit the water. In a recent social media announcement, Carver County Parks declared, "New This Year: Watercraft Storage Now Available at Lake Waconia!"—a service that provides watercraft owners a convenient solution to store their boats from May 1st through October 31st.
Paddlers no longer need to lug their canoes and kayaks to and fro for each excursion; instead, storage racks are strategically placed at the 'Personal Watercraft Access Site' at Lake Minnewashta and by the Paradise Commons Building at Lake Waconia, allowing for easy access all season long. You need to bring your lock, and whilst rack slots aren't assigned, there is a limit of two racks per household, and for boats over 10ft, be ready to show your DNR license.
According to the Carver County Parks' Facebook post on April 5, 2025, takers for these slots should hurry as there's a first-come, first-served policy, and interested parties are urged to reserve their storage space via the provided link. The arrival of watercraft storage services is bound to be welcomed by local paddling aficionados, promoting increased accessibility to two of the county's beloved lakes.
