
The City of Las Cruces is charting a course towards economic revitalization with a familiar face at the helm. Celina Morales, who joined the city's Economic Development Department just last year, has been officially named the new Deputy Director of Economic Development. Morales stepped into the role after an eight-month interim period, where she distinguished herself by spearheading business development initiatives and forging important community relationships.
Her tenure as Interim Deputy Director showcased a propensity for strategic leadership and a sturdy commitment to the city's economic prosperity. "Las Cruces is full of energy, opportunity and potential," Morales said, as per the City of Las Cruces. "I’m excited to help our local businesses thrive, attract new investment and create pathways for long-term economic success." She emphasized her ambition to promote sustainable, inclusive growth that benefits all segments of the community, a vision shaped by her tenure with the department.
In her elevated position, Morales is now responsible for managing a plethora of critical economic undertakings for Las Cruces. Her portfolio spans a variety of sectors, including project management, coordinating business incentives, as well as guiding business retention and expansion programs. Furthermore, Morales will also be collaborating with regional partners to enhance Las Cruces' economic strategy and outreach.
Morales brings to the table a solid educational foundation with a bachelor's degree in advertising from the University of Texas-El Paso. Known for her expertise in communications, project management, and community engagement, Morales' leadership is anticipated to bolster the city's objective of generating opportunities for its citizens, local businesses, and potential investors. According to the City of Las Cruces, she will continue supporting the City's mission of cultivating a robust and resilient local economy.
