An elderly couple from Chatsworth, Georgia, Gary Fowler, 74, and Mary Fowler, 73, were arrested on charges of murder in a case that has remained unsolved for nearly a quarter of a century. The victim, Travis Silvers, was found dead back in 2001 in a Wendy's parking lot in Adairsville. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that Gary and Mary Fowler were taken into custody by an assembly of local law enforcement, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Bartow County Detective Unit, Bartow DTF/SWAT Unit, and the Murray County Sheriff's Office on April 11.
According to a clipping from the Calhoun Times included in the FOX 5 Atlanta report, Silvers' body was discovered inside his truck lying on the passenger side, wrapped in a comforter. It seemed he had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The couple arrested for the murder, the Fowlers, were booked into the Bartow County Jail. However, the authorities have not released information regarding what led to the arrest or the motive behind the crime.
As the investigation continues, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is calling for anyone with information to come forward.
