In a recent crackdown on illicit drug activities, the Chelsea Police Department, along with the Everett and Lynn Police Departments and the DEA Task Force 2, have successfully thwarted a street-level drug operation, as reported in a social media post by the Chelsea Police Department. The concerted operation led to two arrests and the seizure of drugs, a firearm, and cash.
The collaborative sting involved careful surveillance and planning that targeted suspected drug traffickers and illegal firearm possession culminating in an encounter last Friday, this lead to a vehicle being stopped and a suspect attempting to escape on foot near Lash Street in Chelsea, where the suspect, now in custody, was found with a satchel containing a loaded gun, money, and drugs. A second person was arrested at the scene, and the confiscated items from the vehicle included substances suspected to be illegal drugs, multiple cellular phones, and paraphernalia related to drug distribution, which indicates a concerted effort to distribute narcotics.
Chief Keith Houghton hailed the operation as a clear example of multi-agency collaboration yielding results. "This arrest is a testament to the effectiveness of multi-agency cooperation and a shared commitment to public safety," stated Chief Houghton in a press statement.
Individuals involved in the operation, Brandon Baez, 27, and Marc Rodriguez, 22, are now facing multiple charges, including those related to firearms, drug trafficking, and other motor vehicle offenses this is according to the charges filed against them. In a continued effort to involve the community in policing, the Chelsea Police Department calls for the public to remain vigilant and urges anyone with information on illegal activities to get in touch by phone or through various digital channels including their website and social media platforms.
