The weather in Chicago is signalling a shift, with a cooler weekend ahead and even a slight chance of snow come Monday. Today, the city expects "Showers likely, mainly after 4pm," with clouds rolling in this afternoon and temperatures cresting near a moderate 48 degrees, as reported by the National Weather Service. Winds are anticipated to blow from the northeast at a calm 5 to 10 mph but could potentially gust up to 15 mph. The likelihood of precipitation sits at 60%, with new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Showers will develop this PM/evening. Soaking rainfall is most likely south of I-80 where total amounts over 1" (locally to 2") on saturated soils may lead to river rises and flooding of fields, creeks, and ditches. #ILwx #INwx pic.twitter.com/4NM43ay3mP

Wrigley Field attendees may be relieved to hear that, despite some potential "spotty light rain" later at the intersection of Clark and Addison, the game should proceed without cancellation. Heavier rainfall is expected later in the day and into the night, according to FOX 32 Chicago. High temperatures near the ballpark will possibly remain in the 40s due to the proximity to Lake Michigan. A 90% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 4 am is predicted, followed by scattered showers, with overnight lows hovering around 42.
For Saturday, scattered showers are in the forecast, particularly before 7 am, with overcast skies and highs nearing 50. The following day, Chicagoans can expect a respite with "Mostly sunny, with a high near 46," and persistent north northeast winds around 10 mph, as per the National Weather Service. Sunday night is slated to be partially cloudy with low temperatures around 35.
Looking into next week, the city gears up to potentially "revert to winter" on Monday. A disturbance is predicted to bring some snow showers, especially early in the day. "I can’t envision a scenario where anybody will be plowing, however," says a forecast from FOX 32 Chicago. Following the possibility of snow showers, Monday will remain mostly cloudy with highs in the low 40s. The weather trajectory for Chicago steadies on Tuesday and Wednesday, with dry conditions and a warming trend that "will get us into the 50s by mid week." However, another bout of showers is on the horizon, with chances increasing Wednesday night into Thursday.
