
A 19-year-old Chicago resident, Nickolas Watts, is facing serious charges after being arrested for a string of violent acts, including the kidnapping and battery of an infant and an 18-year-old female. According to a release from the Chicago Police Department, Watts, who resides on the 12100 block of S. Elizabeth St., was charged with one felony count each of Aggravated Kidnapping with a victim under 13 with an intellectual disability, Aggravated Kidnapping causing harm, Aggravated Battery of a child under 13 causing great bodily harm, Domestic Battery - Aggravated, and Child Abduction involving a father concealing their child, as well as one misdemeanor count each of Domestic Battery causing bodily harm, and Violating an Order of Protection.
The incident took place in the 1900 block of W. Granville Ave., located within the 24th District, where police say Watts attacked the young woman then moments later he kidnapped and battered the one-month-old, the offenses reportedly occurred just 20 minutes apart before Watts was taken into custody at 12:44 p.m. last Friday, in the vicinity of the 1000 block of W. Glenlake Ave.
The accused is set for a detention hearing at 555 W. Harrison today, as per the Chicago Police Department. At this juncture, the department has not released further details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest.
