
A triple stabbing on Chicago's Northwest Side has led to felony charges for a local man. Melchor Hernandez Rodriguez, 40, was charged on Sunday following an altercation that resulted in injuries to two women and one man. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 5 a.m., in the 5600 block of West Grand Avenue. According to CBS News, the altercation began as a heated argument between two groups.
Witnesses reported that during the argument, Rodriguez allegedly pulled out a sharp object and began swinging it at members of the opposing group. In the chaos, a woman aged 20 and another aged 30 sustained cuts to their arms, necessitating emergency care at local hospitals. A 32-year-old man also suffered lacerations to his hands and was later hospitalized. FOX 32 Chicago noted that all victims were reported in good condition.
Rodriguez was arrested shortly after the incident, with police apprehending him just one block east of where the violent exchange took place. He faces three felony counts of aggravated battery: two counts for causing great bodily harm and one count for committing aggravated battery in a public place, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.
Rodriguez, who resides in Humboldt Park, is slated to appear for a detention hearing on Tuesday, as per FOX 32 Chicago.
