A waitress at El Taco Azteca in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood was the victim of a violent assault by two women, reportedly over a dispute concerning a $50 check. The attack, which took place last Saturday evening at approximately 8:43 p.m., was recorded on the restaurant's surveillance system, as reported by ABC7 Chicago. In footage obtained, the suspects can be seen kicking, stomping, and striking the 23-year-old server.

The conflict is said to have erupted after the server refused a refund requested by the culprits, who had already consumed their meal. After the refusal, the two women began their physical assault, with one of the assailants damaging the waitress's phone by submerging it in water, as detailed by ABC7 Chicago. Following the incident, police have confirmed the waitress was transported to a hospital and is anticipated to recover.

Owners of El Taco Azteca, along with the restaurant staff, are now grappling with the aftermath of the incident. Carlos García, the owner of the establishment, expressed his frustration to NBC Chicago, saying, "I feel rage, primarily because something like this has never happened, and for it to be over $50 just doesn’t make any sense." The employees have appealed to the public and law enforcement for help in identifying and locating the assailants.

As seen in the surveillance video, the attack lasted approximately two minutes, involving punches, kicks, and dragging. Marta Garcia, attempting to intervene, told NBC Chicago that, "I came in when I heard what was going on and I was able to pull off one of her attackers. When I finally got them separated, one of them then turned to me and started swinging." The waitress is reported to be recovering from multiple bruises, cuts, and a broken finger.

The manager of El Taco Azteca has issued a determined statement regarding the ongoing search for the perpetrators. "I want them to know, we’re going to find you whatever it takes, I’m putting everything I have into this … I have no doubt about it, we’re going to find them," she declared in an interview with NBC Chicago. Amidst the ongoing investigation, the community and local police are urging anyone with information about the suspects to come forward.
