Residents of Chicago should prepare for a blend of sunshine and storms as the weather takes a rollercoaster ride in the coming days. According to the National Weather Service, today could see a slight chance of showers between 1 pm and 2 pm., followed by a probable uptick in showers and thunderstorms post-2 pm. The winds from the south, blowing at 10 to 20 mph with occasional gusts hitting 30 mph, are piling up clouds and pushing temperatures toward a high near 63 degrees.
As the day fades into night, the skies over Chicago are expected to feature more of the same erratic behavior, with a 40% likelihood of rain and lightning shows. It's breezy out there, with south-southeast winds reaching 15 to 20 mph, and gusts could blow as strongly as 35 mph. But as tension lifts from the daytime buzz, the evening clouds are forecasted to clear, giving way to calmer skies and a knockout punch of roughly 55 degrees Fahrenheit waiting in the wings.
Then comes Friday, which, according to a report from CBS News Chicago, promises to be the warmest day of the year so far. Temperatures could soar near the 80-degree mark amid a dance of breezy and warmer conditions.
The dip and weave of weather continues through the weekend, with Saturday's forecast being particularly cool-headed, sporting highs mid-50s and a possible shower. By Easter Sunday, the likelihood of rain sets a more certain stage, while the mercury makes a modest climb into the mid to upper 50s. It seems the showers can’t resist an encore, as they are slated to return Monday, ensuring that umbrellas won't rest for long.
