As Cobb County's latest municipality gears up for full-scale operations, a significant meeting is on the table. Set for tomorrow morning, Cobb County Board of Commissioners is convening with the freshly-minted Mableton City Council.

Set within the walls of the Switzer Library in Marietta, the two governance squads are locking heads at 9 a.m., tackling issues from law enforcement to the lifelines of transportation. According to the information procured from the official county website, they're also aiming to smooth out the creases in the Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs), the very blueprints defining the county's role in Mableton post-transition.

Cupid, the lead of the county board, didn't mince words when it comes to the working relationship with Mableton. "We've had a strong partnership with the new City of Mableton as they've transitioned services from the county," Cobb County's news release quoted her. She added, "Our teams have worked hand in hand to ensure seamless service delivery, and we desire these discussions around essential service IGAs to proceed just as smoothly."

In a move that signifies taking the reins, Mableton took the lead on code enforcement and zoning last month. With July 1 as the milestone, the city is poised to fully command its chosen services group, which houses the likes of economic and community development, as well as waste management, next to planning duties. This shuffle has been mandated by Georgia's Department of Community Affairs, nudging the city and county to put their IGAs in black and white by May's end.
