Concord, North Carolina, welcomes a new burst of color and creativity to the ClearWater Arts Center & Studios as the city, in conjunction with Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte, celebrates the dedication of the "Whimsical Harmony" mural tomorrow. The large-scale outdoor installation, financed by the Republic Services Foundation's National Neighborhood Promise grant, is part of a larger aim to beautify the community area and foster a sense of pride amongst its residents.
Local Charlotte artist Jonathan Grauel spearheaded the creation of the mural, and his work, drawing on feedback gathered from both in-person community meetings and surveys, captures the distinctive culture and history of the area; forging an emblematic narrative through vibrant visuals that attendees will be able to witness themselves at the dedicated event planned for April 24 at 3 p.m., according to an announcement made by the City of Concord on their official website.
In a statement obtained by the City of Concord, Beth Morrison-North, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte, described the collaborative effort stating, "This mural represents the spirit of community collaboration and creative expression," she went on to express gratification towards partners, cementing the installation as a testament to the collaborative spirit weaving through the fabric of the local society, adding a touch of inspirational artistry to the ClearWater Arts Center's grounds.
The dedication ceremony will feature statements from Concord's Mayor Bill Dusch, Grauel the artist behind the installation, Morrison-North, and Andrew Magee of Republic Services; meanwhile, those in attendance can indulge in provided light refreshments, offering a palate of tastes while absorbing the artwork's visual feast. The event details are online with the specifics regarding location at 223 Crowell Dr NW, Concord, NC 28025, and noted that parking will not be an issue with free spaces readily available across from the arts center.
Residents and art enthusiasts are encouraged to visit ClearWater Arts Center & Studios' website for more information on the mural and to participate in what promises to be a festive convergence of community and creative expression reflective of the cultural vitality in Concord.
