In a press release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), on April 4, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, Ronny Lewis Butts was arrested on multiple charges including Stalking and Harassing Communications. According to the GBI's statement, Butts, 49, from Cochran, GA now faces a felony charge for Violation of Oath of Office as well.
The investigation, led by the GBI at the behest of Bleckley County Sheriff Daniel Cape, delves into allegations that Butts was engaged in stalking behavior. Butts, still on the roster as a deputy at the time of his arrest, was booked into the Bleckley County Detention Center, officials confirmed.
As the case unfolds, the GBI encourages those with additional information to step forward. Contacts are to be made to the GBI regional investigative office in Eastman, through their telephone line, via their website, or through the 'See Something, Send Something' mobile application.
The attendant processes of justice loom for Butts, wherein the completed investigation will be handed over to the Oconee Judicial District Attorney's Office. Here, where the weight of the law will be parsed and, prosecutions will be determined.
