Heads up, Duluth drivers: If your weekend plans involve cruising through the picturesque East Superior Street, you're going to need to chart a different course. According to a recent announcement by the City of Duluth Utility Operations, the 4100 block of the street will be off-limits come early Saturday morning, April 26. The closure facilitates necessary work on a water service, part and parcel of the city's infrastructure maintenance that, while inconvenient, ensures our taps keep flowing.
The city is not leaving motorists high and dry, however. A detour will escort vehicles to the scenic bustle of London Road, a slight diversion to shepherd traffic away from the work site. The posted redirection is set to last just one full day, assuming all goes according to plan. But when does utility work ever wraps up just as it's supposed to?
Residents and local businesses are bracing for the impact. The good news is that this is a one-day affair. "A detour will be posted and will redirectvehicle traffic to London Road to avoid the affected block," a city notice stated.
For the most up-to-date information and a peek at the detour map, Duluthians can head over to the City of Duluth's official website or click on this link provided in the announcement.
