An incident of aggravated assault and hit-and-run has been reported at The Bird restaurant on Ashford Dunwoody Rd, according to Dunwoody Police Department. Earlier yesterday, a physical altercation occurred inside the bar, which eventually led to a male victim being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot.
Witnesses described the victim, a man in his mid-40s, and his girlfriend were at the establishment when another male patron initiated contact with the woman, seemingly to draw her attention, setting off a confrontation between the two men. Post the fracas, both parties were asked to promptly leave the premises. However, events escalated outside when the male, deemed to have been involved initially in the fight, was intentionally hit by a car. The assailant fled the scene afterwards.
The local authorities initially received reports of a possible shooting at the scene, but upon investigation, "No evidence has been found to support this claim", as mentioned on the Dunwoody Police Department's website. Instead, the victim, now identified as the male initially inside the bar, was transported to Grady Hospital with serious injuries and is said to be in critical but stable condition.
The investigation into this incident remains active as police continue to seek and analyze evidence and ask any potential witnesses to come forward to help possibly identify the driver.
