A three-vehicle collision on Highway 224 in Clackamas County last Thursday resulted in the death of 64-year-old Timothy Mark Woodard from Eagle Creek. According to the Oregon State Police, the crash occurred at 1:31 p.m. at the intersection with Weitz Lane, with preliminary reports suggesting that a failure to stop led to the fatal event.
The investigation indicates that Luis Guerrero Lopez, 64, driving a westbound Ford F150 struck the rear of Woodard's Toyota Celica as he stopped to make a turn, which sent the Toyota spinning into the opposing lane; shortly after, it was hit head-on by a Subaru Forrester, operated by Joshua Jordan Redd, 43, of Estacada. Diane Woodard, 71, also from Eagle Creek, was seriously injured in the crash, and Redd sustained serious injuries both were rushed to the hospital while the highway faced closures for about seven hours during the investigation.
Lopez, who appeared to have sustained fewer physical injuries, was arrested by Oregon State Police for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, which is considered a primary factor in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
