There's a changing of the guard over at the Eden Prairie Reserve Unit, with some familiar faces taking on new roles within the community-driven group. After nearly two decades of service, Boyd Hesdorffer is stepping aside from his supervisory duties but isn't disappearing completely. He'll stay on as an Immediate Past Supervisor, which means he'll still be around to lend a hand.
Hesdorffer has been a part of the Reserves for 18 years, and his successor, Andrew Rockafellow, has been there for 13 years. Tom Bahe, the incoming Deputy Supervisor, has even got Hesdorffer beat by a year, with 19 years clocked in. In an announcement made by the Eden Prairie Police Department, it was stated, "We are so fortunate to have such dedicated, hardworking volunteers working alongside our officers."
The Reserve Unit, for those not in the know, comprises community volunteers who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the police during emergencies, special events, and other community services. It's a commitment to public service and safety that relies on everyday folk deciding to put in some extraordinary work.
