A 21-year-old suspect is now in custody after a violent attack that occurred last month in Northeast El Paso, as revealed by the El Paso Police Department. Hekter Enrique Carreto, a local of the area, faces charges including two counts of aggravated sexual assault, along with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. Judges have set his bonds at the cumulative sum of four million dollars, Reyes overseeing one-half and Duke the other, according to the El Paso Police Department.
The incident, which gained attention after a woman was found unconscious behind a business on March 28th, initiated an investigation by the Crimes Against Persons unit. The woman was transported to a hospital with severe injuries sustained during the assault. A man reportedly entered the establishment at 9155 Dyer and began a violent assault that escalated to sexual assault and robbery, taking money from the victim and dragging her outside; the suspect fled the location on foot before law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Further investigation led detectives to identify Carreto as the alleged attacker. After the identification, Carreto was arrested without incident and later booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he currently awaits proceedings about the litany of offenses leveled against him.
