El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) employees with a knack for the arts have something to look forward to. EPISD's Fine Arts Department is calling on its faculty and staff to showcase their artistic talents in an upcoming exhibit. This year's Faculty and Staff Art Exhibit is set to dispel any notion that creative expression is strictly the province of students within the school walls.

The exhibit is not only an opportunity for staff members to publicly display their artwork, but it's also a moment to demonstrate their contributions to the broader culture. Participants are allowed to submit up to two pieces of art, be it photography, painting, or sculpture. The Fine Arts Department has requirements for presentation, specifying that all canvas edges must be finished and that they're able to frame artwork of certain sizes, while leaving the rest for the artists to frame.

As educators and staff prepare their pieces, the submission deadline stands as a marker on the calendar: May 21. The exhibition itself will run from June 2 through August 20, taking place at the EPISD Art Gallery, located at 1014 N. Stanton. But the showstopper of the event promises to be the public reception, set for the evening of Friday, August 9, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., according to El Paso ISD.

Andrea Smith, Visual Arts Facilitator at EPISD, is inviting "all staff members—whether you’re a seasoned artist or just getting started—to participate and share your work," as per El Paso ISD. This inclusive push underscores the district's commitment to cultivating and celebrating creativity at all levels. The district seems genuinely eager to recognize their employees' artistic talents, which so often play a secondary role to their educational responsibilities. "This exhibit is a wonderful way to recognize the artistic spirit that lives not just in our students, but in the talented educators and professionals who make El Paso ISD a vibrant place to learn and grow," Smith added in the announcement.
