Commuters in Terrytown are set to experience some delays next week as a stretch of Terry Parkway undergoes partial closure. According to the Jefferson Parish website, the right southbound lane between Hector Avenue and Browning Lane will be closed off for several hours each day to allow for the installation of fiber cable by AT&T.
The work will start tomorrow, with closures happening from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is expected to run through to Thursday, with the assumption of favorable weather conditions. This infrastructure enhancement is part of AT&T’s efforts to directly improve connectivity for area residents and businesses. While these upgrades are necessary, they will likely temporarily complicate to navigate daily commutes and errands for local drivers.
During the closure periods, traffic will be rerouted to available lanes, potentially causing congestion. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead or consider alternate routes to avoid the construction zone. Local officials emphasized the importance of the upgrade and requested community cooperation throughout the project. For additional information or concerns regarding the roadwork, contact Chuong Pham of the Traffic Engineering Department at (504) 736-6530. The fiber cable installation is expected to improve telecommunications services in the area once complete.
