The Fairfield Police Department reported an unsettling incident this morning when they were called to respond to an attempted kidnapping. A 14-year-old girl, en route to the Matt Garcia Learning Center, was nearly abducted by an unidentified man. According to the police's social media post, the student managed to resist the assailant and escape, immediately alerting her father and school authorities upon reaching safety.
The police launched a vigorous search, deploying drones and employing the sharp eyes of their dispatchers. Officer Beckwith, one of Fairfield's own, played a pivotal role in the apprehension of the suspect by reviewing camera footage that led to the discovery of the suspect's location on the third floor of City Hall, as per the Fairfield Police Department.
Samuel Galvao, a 52-year-old Fairfield resident, did not go quietly, resisting arrest when officers made contact. Yet, law enforcement prevailed, and with the collaboration between the victim and an independent witness, officers were able to identify Galvao as the would-be kidnapper positively. Galvao now faces charges for his attempted crime and his resistance during the arrest.
