Two suspects are in custody following separate instances of alleged drug-related activities in Fall River, as reported by the local police department. CAST Detectives, tasked with surveilling drug-related transactions, were instrumental in the apprehensions of both men, which occurred last Saturday. The details released by the Fall River Police Department's Facebook page provide an insight into the events leading up to the arrests.
In the first incident, detectives observed Andre Rego, a 34-year-old resident with a history of drug involvement, exhibiting suspicious behavior outside a known drug house. Despite having a suspended driver's license, Rego was seen operating a vehicle previously linked to drug investigations. When authorities attempted to stop him, he fled, leading to a vehicle chase that transitioned into a foot pursuit on Pebble Street. Rego was eventually captured, and a vehicle search revealed "approximately 4.1 grams of fentanyl," leading to multiple charges including possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute and resisting arrest.
Separately, Leonard Starcher Jr., 35, was detained while at a gas station after detectives validated that he had an active arrest warrant. The encounter turned up an additional offense when Starcher was found to be carrying 52 grams of suspected cocaine, concealed in his pants during a pat frisk. Subsequent to this discovery, he was charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of the statutory amount delineating trafficking and possession and his pre-existing warrant.
