A tragic sequence of events unfolded earlier yesterday on eastbound I-40 near Choctaw, resulting in a deadly crash and significant traffic disruptions. According to KOCO, the crash was initiated by a driver believed to be under the influence, whose vehicle became disabled on the roadway. A second vehicle managed to stop in time, but a subsequent car failed to halt, leading to a fatal collision and the death of the third vehicle's driver, as reported by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The incident, which took place at Triple X Road, necessitated the partial closure of the highway with only the inside lane remaining open for traffic. KFOR notes that the accident has caused eastbound I-40 to be narrowed to one lane at mile marker 168, just east of Choctaw Road, with authorities urging drivers to be cautious and anticipate delays in the area.
