
A pedestrian has been pronounced dead after a crash that occurred this morning in Knoxville. The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) is conducting an investigation into the incident which took place on N. Broadway near Atlantic Avenue. According to the official report on the Knoxville Police Department website, officers responded to the scene shortly after the crash happened at around 10:30 a.m.
Preliminary findings suggest that the victim, a male pedestrian, was attempting to cross the street outside of a designated crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound Chevy SUV. Struck by the vehicle, no additional injuries have been reported at the site of the fatal encounter. The vehicle in question remained at the scene following the collision.
The KPD has brought in crime scene technicians and crash reconstruction investigators, as well as personnel from the Medical Examiner’s Office, to aid in the comprehensive investigation. As the investigations continue, further details of the crash are being looked into to understand the exact circumstances surrounding the fatality.
As of now, the identity of the man who lost his life in the incident is being kept confidential. The release of his name is being held off until the next of kin has been duly notified.
