The quiet of a Lowell neighborhood was shattered last Monday morning when a report of a fatal shooting on Cumberland Road reached local authorities. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Greg Hudon confirmed they are actively investigating the incident which claimed the life of Tige Dyer, 50.
Officers were dispatched to Dyer's residence following a 911 call made at approximately 11:10 a.m., alerting them to a man shot. Attempts to quickly save Dyer proved futile; after being transported to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary findings by the police suggest that they are not looking for a random act of violence, but rather, something more targeted—an isolated incident, to put it plainly.
This case has henceforth marshaled the combined efforts of the Lowell Police, the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
