Last Friday night, a serious vehicular incident on 43rd Avenue in west Phoenix ended fatally for two men. As reported by ABC15, 35-year-old Ricardo Quintero and 23-year-old Donnie Martinez were identified as the victims who succumbed to their injuries after being transported to the hospital. The crash, involving just two vehicles, occurred near 43rd and Northern avenues. Each man was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles when the collision happened.
According to police statements, Martinez was driving northward on 43rd Avenue when his vehicle, for reasons yet unexplained, crossed into the opposing lane and struck Quintero's oncoming vehicle. After the late-night crash, arriving officers discovered both men in a state of serious injury. 12News detailed the moments following the accident, noting that the men were quickly taken to a local hospital, where they were later declared deceased due to their injuries.
While investigations into the exact cause of this tragic event are ongoing, impairment as a contributing factor has not been ruled out. As of now, the Phoenix Police Department has not released further details surrounding what precisely led up to the crash.
