Folsom Lake College is bracing for a surge of activity and the inevitable traffic snarls that come with it today. The college, nestled in the city of Folsom, has announced a large-scale event that's expected to draw crowds and clog the thoroughfares surrounding the campus. According to an alert published at Folsom Police Department, visitors and residents alike are advised to plan ahead as heavy traffic is anticipated on East Bidwell Street, Scholar Way, and nearby streets, with these conditions lasting from the afternoon well into the evening, until around 9 p.m.
For those accustomed to the hum of a small college town, this Tuesday will likely prove to be a tad more chaotic. Event-goers and those simply trying to get by will have to navigate around road closures, including Scholar Way between East Bidwell Street and Silberhorn Drive, as well as Cavitt Drive, stretching from Scholar Way up to Lothian Way. The recommendation is to plan alternative travels or to add a generous time buffer to commutes in order to not be caught unawares by the congestion. These road closures are set to last until approximately 9 p.m., a situation to surely challenge the daily rhythms of this community.
Parking also promises to be a contentious point, as the crush of cars descends upon the area. Folsom Lake College has made it clear that parking in the residential neighborhoods nearby is strictly for residents, and the authorities will not hesitate to enforce this. With posted signage declaring this intent, the college urges visitors to respect these rules and to avoid blocking any driveways or access points, keeping the flow of daily life for locals as undisturbed as possible.
The Los Rios Community College District Police Department, joined by Folsom Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, are prepared to coordinate efforts on-site. Their goal is not merely to direct traffic or enforce road closures but ultimately to safeguard both the attendees of the event and those who call Folsom home. For those with questions related to the event or the pressing issue of parking, Folsom Lake College is directing inquiries to their office at 916-608-6993 or via email to [email protected].
