Local police have arrested a 27-year-old man after an investigation linked him to three separate sexual assaults in the area. Jesse Romero DiGrappa, a recent arrival to Fort Collins, was taken into custody on Thursday, with multiple charges laid against him, as confirmed by the Fort Collins Police Services.
According to the Fort Collins Police Services, the first incident was reported on March 16, when a woman was attacked by a stranger while she walked downtown around 2 a.m. A week later, on March 23, another victim reported an ongoing assault to 911, naming a man she met on a dating app. This same victim disclosed to detectives that the suspect had also assaulted her two weeks previously.
The authorities have accused DiGrappa of two counts of a Class 1 Misdemeanor for Unlawful Sexual Contact, one count of a Class 4 Felony for Unlawful Sexual Contact, and three counts of a Class 4 Felony for Sexual Assault. In addition, DiGrappa faces a charge for possessing a dangerous or illegal weapon, specifically metallic knuckles, which are banned in Colorado.
While no weapons were reportedly used in the sexual assaults, the presence of the metallic knuckles in DiGrappa’s possession hints at a preparedness to potentially commit harm. Detective RJ Tuttle urged anyone with additional information on these cases or who may have been a victim themselves to come forward and contact the police. DiGrappa’s arrest necessitates a close look into his recent and past activities to possibly uncover further offenses.
