Residents of the Jordan neighborhood are bracing for temporary disruptions as CenterPoint Energy begins a gas main replacement project along Logan Avenue North, between 26th and 27th Avenues, which started on Monday. This infrastructure update is expected to last about two weeks, followed by work on service lines and gas meters, according to CenterPoint Energy - Minnesota.
During construction, street parking will be restricted on both sides of the avenue within the project zone, and the east sidewalk will be closed. The west sidewalk will remain open, and while a full closure of the avenue is anticipated within the one-block area, access will still be maintained at the 27th Avenue North intersection.
Though the project may cause short-term inconvenience, CenterPoint Energy emphasizes that the work is necessary to provide a safer and more reliable natural gas service. In a statement released on Monday, the company noted, “CenterPoint Energy is committed to providing the safe and reliable natural gas service that helps to make life's moments possible.”
