An incident in Milledgeville, Georgia has led to an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) after a confrontation between a local man and police resulted in both an officer and the man being injured. According to an announcement by the GBI, the situation escalated when Ali Rasheed Washington, aged 34, allegedly charged at and stabbed a responding officer who, along with another officer, had entered Washington's residence in response to a 911 call made by his parents on the evening of April 12.

The 911 call, which originated from the Milledgeville Estates Mobile Home Park, was for medical assistance, yet upon arrival the officers were met with violence, prompting one officer to shoot Washington who is now hospitalized in stable condition, his future includes charges such as two counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Police Officer and Possession of a Weapon during the commission of a crime the injured officer was treated and later released. Once Washington is cleared by medical staff, he will be transferred to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to face his charges.
