The city of Germantown is inviting local artists to create a new Traveling City Mural. The mural will represent the essence of Germantown and be displayed at high-traffic spots and community events. Individuals within 75 miles of Germantown can apply for a mural design opportunity by May 7. Up to three finalists will receive $1,000 each, and the winner will receive $12,000 to create the mural on plywood, using their own paint and sealant. The mural, divided into five panels, will be displayed at various locations across the city, as reported by the City of Germantown.
The Germantown Public Art Program is allowing the public to vote on which design will represent the city on a roving art piece. After a shortlist of artists is selected, voting will be available online or at locations like the Germantown Community Library and Performing Arts Center. The final decision will be made by the Germantown Public Art Commission. Applicants must be 18 or older, with experience in public art being preferred.
