A high-speed chase involving a Gilroy man on an electric motorcycle ended in his arrest, the Gilroy Police Department reported. The pursuit began around 5:20 PM on Tuesday when a patrol officer spotted the man. The electric motorcycle caught the officer's attention due to the lack of a rear license plate, and the rider's disregard for safety as he was not wearing a helmet.

The incident escalated when the officer attempted to stop the motorcyclist for the observed infractions. However, the rider chose to flee, leading the officer through the areas of Hecker Pass and Santa Teresa Boulevard and back to Hecker Pass again, near the Elks Lodge. The police managed to corner the suspect by blocking the entrances and exiting the area, eventually causing the individual to surrender.

The suspect, a 21-year-old resident of Gilroy, now faces multiple charges. According to the report by the Gilroy Police Department on their social media account, the man was arrested for evading a police officer, expired registration, no proof of insurance, driving without a license and a motorcycle classification, and operating the vehicle without the required helmet.
