An 18-year-old's alleged break-in at a Hendricks County home ended with his slumber on the homeowner's office floor and subsequent arrest on Saturday morning. The homeowner, who discovered the sleeping young man around 6:30 a.m., promptly exited the residence to contact law enforcement, as reported by WTHR.
Responding to the call, Hendricks County Sheriff's Office deputies found the unidentified male, later identified as Nicholas L. Johnson, using their PA system to attempt communication, which inadvertently turned into a prolonged engagement lasting over two hours. The man walked out eventually and was arrested, displaying symptoms that suggested intoxication, according to information by the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office acquired by FOX59.
Following the arrest, Johnson informed deputies he had been in the area the previous night with friends and professed to have "no idea" how he had found his way inside the stranger's home. He faced preliminary charges that included residential entry and minor consumption of alcohol. The incident was reported near Interstate 74, a detail shared by WTHR.
Ultimately, the standoff concluded without physical incident, and Johnson was escorted to the Hendricks County Jail. While in custody, police noted that alcohol was found on Johnson, who had previously been enjoying the company of his friends, wandering nearby before inadvertently becoming an uninvited guest, the story by WIBC detailed.
