The chase started when deputies attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Old Knoxville Highway near Sam Houston School Road. The vehicle continued into South Knox County and crashed at the Mountain Grove Drive intersection near the South Grove shopping center, as per WBIR.
A vehicle failed to stop for deputies, leading to a chase that ended in a crash. The pursuit involved multiple emergency teams, including Blount and Knox County deputies, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and EMS crews. The driver was arrested and faces several charges, while the two passengers were released without charges. "An ambulance took a woman in the other vehicle to the hospital to be treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening," said Marian O'Briant, as reported by WBIR. Traffic on Chapman Highway was slowed but later cleared.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol, which is investigating the crash on Chapman Highway following a vehicle chase, is leading the investigation. The Blount County Sheriff's Office confirmed the driver was apprehended, and charges from both their office and the Highway Patrol are pending, as mentioned by WVLT. The three people in the stolen car were evaluated by AMR at the scene but did not require hospital transport, according to WATE.
